Easter Basket for Kids with Adults

Workshop Description

A frame basket is great to start learning on. We begin with two hoops and a heap of sticks. I'll show you how to tie them together and then explain how to create this stunning scalloped-shaped basket. This creative workshop is open to dextrous kids from 12-years upwards who bring an adult with them so they can weave together. It's a standalone course where you'll learn ancient weaving techniques. If you practice straight away, you can develop these skills at home or come back for more lessons with me. Weaving techniques you'll learn: randing and packing. I'll teach you about the tools you'll need, where to buy, and how to select and soak willow. If you want to bring friends, get them to book asap, as places are limited (maximum 8 participants and a minimum of 1-adult for each group of kids). Use of tools and locally sourced willow is provided. Snacks and foraged herb teas throughout the day are included. Bring a packed lunch. Please bring sensible footwear and warm clothes as the barn is open-sided. A certain level of fitness is needed as the compost loo is a short walk away across two meadows. We finish at approximately 4.30pm Kindly be advised that participants arriving more than thirty minutes after the start of the workshop will be unable to join, as the class progresses at a unified pace, and restarting would compromise the available time.
