What a fantastic way to spend the day with your mum! I'll help you both create some wonderful memories together as you weave your very own beautiful giant flower to brighten your gardens, homes and hearts! This mindful and creative workshop is specifically open to mum's with their off-spring; dexterous 12-year-old's upwards. It's been designed as a standalone course, but you'll be learning tried and tested basketry skills—the same ones you'd use to make a traditional round 'stake and strand' basket bottom. You can evolve these skills at home or in future lessons to make foraging/shopping baskets, waste paper bins, oval-bottomed baskets, log barrels, etc. (keep an eye out for other workshops that inspire you). I'll also teach you about the tools you'll need, where to buy, select, and how to soak willow. If you want to bring other friends with you, please get them to book asap as places are limited, early booking is advisable. A maximum of 8 people in this group. Use of tools and willow is provided. Snacks and foraged herb teas throughout the day are included; bring a packed lunch. Venue: We work from Satori, a Nature-Based Off-Grid Healing Retreat. Please bring sensible footwear and warm clothes, as the barn is open-sided. A certain level of fitness is needed, as the compost loo is a short walk away across two meadows (wild weeing is encouraged!). Times: Arrive from 8:30 am for a prompt 9 am start to 4:30 pm (the finish time is approximate). Kindly be advised that participants arriving more than thirty minutes after the commencement of the workshop will be unable to join, as the class progresses at a unified pace, and restarting would compromise the available time.
