Sensory-based Wild-food Foraging
Indulge your senses and explore nature's culinary larder
Workshop Description
For millions of years we've evolved in harmony with nature. Knowledge of which wild foods we could eat was passed down through our ancestors. Today, working closely with our senses and intuition, we will navigate pastures and woodlands to gather food--food which is offered in abundance and for free, containing an intricate balance of vitamins, minerals and trace elements that our bodies need to keep healthy, balanced and well both emotionally and physically. On a sensory-based wild-food foraging walk, you will learn techniques and skills to heighten your awareness which you can later use to help build upon your own personal knowledge and experience whilst gathering. Emma will teach you: • skills to identify wild foods by working closely with your senses and intuition • how to recognise at least a dozen wild edible plants • how to identify poisonous plants you don't want to mistake the edibles for • how to harvest safely and sustainably • how to use herbs to make teas and learn ways of adding them to your meals • how our relationship with wild edibles helps us along the path to wellbeing • how to live in harmony with nature to have a healthy body and mind • the laws of foraging Other stuff: • bring sensible footwear and clothes (appropriate for weather and terrain) • bring notebooks, pens and pencils • a certain level of fitness is needed as some terrain is uneven and hilly (we walk across fields, through woodland and on local lanes) If you want to bring a friend, get them to book asap, as places are limited (maximum 8 participants). Venue: Most likely we'll meet at Satori, but we may explore other locations if the herbs are more abundant somewhere else on the day. We'll confirm this nearer to the workshop. Other locations won't be too far from Satori; roughly a 5-miles radius. Keep an eye out for other Satori workshops that inspire you! Arrive from 9.30am for a prompt 10am start. We finish at approximately 1pm. Kindly be advised that participants arriving after the start time may be unable to join if the safety elements have already been covered. The class progresses at a unified pace. Restarting would compromise the available time.
