Workshop Description

For millions of years, we've evolved in harmony with nature. Knowledge of which wild foods we could eat during the seasons would have been passed to us through our ancestors. Working closely with our sense of smell, touch, sight, taste & most importantly our intuition, we would navigate pastures & woodlands to gather our food - food which is offered in abundance and for free, containing an intricate balance of vitamins, minerals & trace elements that our bodies need to keep healthy, balanced & well - emotionally & physically. On a Sensory Based Wild Food Foraging walk for Wellbeing, you will be taught techniques & skills to heighten your awareness while out there 'gathering' which you can later use to help build your own personal knowledge & experience, both essential to safe learning. Emma will teach you: • skills to identify wild foods by working closely with your senses & intuition • how to identify at least, depending on the season, a dozen wild edible plants including some of the poisonous ones not to mistake them for • how to harvest safely and for our future • how to work with the herbs, such as drying them for teas, making infused oils, cooking with them, eating them fresh etc. • how our relationship with the wild edibles helps us to wellbeing • how we can live in harmony with Nature for a truly healthy body & mind • the laws of foraging Other stuff: • please bring sensible footwear & clothes (for when it's muddy & cold) • bring notebooks, pens & pencils • some terrain we traverse is uneven, hilly, we walk across fields, through woodland and on local lanes If you want to bring a friend with you, please get them to book asap as places are limited, early booking is advisable. A maximum of 8 people in this group. Venue: Most likely we'll explore from Satori but, this may be changed if the herbs are more abundant somewhere else on the day. We'll confirm nearer to when we meet - it won't be too far from Satori if we do start elsewhere; much further (more than 5-miles away) and we'll agree with you first. Times: Arrive from 9:30 am for a prompt 10 am start to 1pm (the finish time is approximate). Kindly be advised that participants arriving more than ten minutes after the commencement of the workshop will be unable to join, as the class progresses at a unified pace, and restarting would compromise the available time.
