Multi-use Stake-and-Strand
Make a basket perfect for fruit, bread, socks, and much more!
Workshop Description
This hands-on workshop is for those new to weaving as well as those wanting to learn new skills. The basket you'll learn is a traditional stake-and-strand. You'll learn ancient weaving skills which you can practice at home and/or further develop with me. Weaving skills you'll learn: randing, 2-rod slewing, waling, 4-rod border. I'll teach you about the tools you'll need, where to buy, and how to select and soak willow. If you want to bring a friend, get them to book asap, as places are limited (maximum 8 participants). Use of tools and locally sourced willow is provided. Snacks and foraged herb teas throughout the day are included. Bring a packed lunch. Please bring sensible footwear and warm clothes as the barn is open-sided. A certain level of fitness is needed as the compost loo is a short walk away across two meadows. Keep an eye out for other Satori workshops that inspire you! Arrive from 8:30am for a prompt 9am start. We finish at approximately 5.30pm. Kindly be advised that participants arriving more than thirty minutes after the start of the workshop will be unable to join, as the class progresses at a unified pace, and restarting would compromise the available time.
